The eta(5)-Bz(5)C(5) ligand-containing trimetallic complexes [eta(5)-B
z(5)C(5)(CO)(3)M]Hg-2 (M = Cr, Mo, W) were synthesized from the in sit
u reaction of phenylmercuric chloride with corresponding transition me
tal lithium salts [eta(5)-Bz(5)C(5)(CO)(3)M] Li in THF, whereas the et
a(5)-HO2CC5H4 ligand-containing trimetallic complexes [eta(5)-HO2CC5H4
(CO)(3)M]Hg-2 were synthesized through hydrolysis of their correspondi
ng esters in the presence of KOH/EtOH/H2O, followed by acidification.
These compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR
and MS spectroscopy, while the structure of [eta(5)-Bz(5)C(5)(CO)(3)W]
Hg-2 was determined by an X-ray diffraction analysis. Copyright (C) 19
