BINUCLEAR OXOMOLYBDENUM(V) COMPLEXES WITH MERCAPTOCARBOXYLIC ACIDS - SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ELECTROCHEMISTRY

A number of stable bis(mu-oxo) and mu-oxo-mu-sulfido binuclear oxomoly bdenum(V) complexes of the type R(2)[Mo(2)O(4)L(2)]. 5H(2)O (1) and R( 2)[Mo(2)O(3)SL(2)]5H(2)O (2) with different mercaptocarboxylic acids ( H(2)L) have been synthesized (where H(2)L = 2-mercaptobenzoic acid, 2- mercaptoproprionic and 3-mercaptopropionic acid, and R = Ph(4)PC). The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity measurement and spectral (IRI UV-VIS and H-1-NMR) data. The electroch emical behaviour of the complexes in DMF have also been examined by cy clic voltammetry at a glassy carbon electrode. Copyright (C) 1996 Else vier Science Ltd
