The title complex has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diff
raction. The Ag-I atom is in a distorted square pyramidal geometry wit
h two pyridyl nitrogen atoms, one alkylamine nitrogen atom from TLA an
d two oxygen atoms from the nitrate group which is coordinated as a bi
dentate ligand. There are two different independent configurations in
the same unit cell, and the internuclear distance Ag(1)... Ag(2) is 9.
246 Angstrom. The solution behaviors of Ag(TLA)NO3 have been further s
tudied with H-1 NMR. The two beta-protons on each pyridine are resolve
d from each other and are assigned to the two peaks at 7.50 and 7.08 p
pm. The methene protons and methyl protons are shifted slightly upfiel
d compared with those of free TLA due to the formation of coordinate b
