Abstract
The influence of thyroxine on synthesis of total phospholipids, phosph atidic acid, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate, a nd phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate was investigated in hepatocyt es of white rats. The hormone induced a manyfold increase in [C-14]pal mitate incorporation into the investigated lipids. The activating effe ct of the hormone on lipid synthesis is imitated by phorbol 12-myrista te 13-acetate and abolished by exogenous sphingosine. Addition of sphi ngosine to intact cells inhibits phosphoinositide synthesis.
