Two hundred fifty two EW hybrid chickens of both from 29 until 49 days
of age, were distributed according to a completely randomized design
in 3 treatments and 6 replications to evaluate the inclusion of 0, 5 a
nd 10% of whole tobacco seeds in the diet. Feed consumption (3015; 318
0 and 3143 g/bird) significantly differed between the control and the
experimental treatments. Liveweight gain (1270; 1284 and 1273 g/bird),
feed conversion (2.34; 2.45 and 2.47) and final liveweight (1935; 195
2 and 1939 g) did not significantly differ between treatments. Results
obtained show the possibility of including between 5 and 10% of whole
tobacco seeds (4 and 8% of maize substitution) in broiler concentrate
s during the finishing stage (28 to 49 days).
