Z. Rodriguez et al., A NOTE ON THE ISOLATION OF ANAEROBIC CELLULOLYTIC FUNGI IN THE CECUM OF BROILERS, Cuban journal of agricultural science, 30(2), 1996, pp. 195-196
Eight chickens of 29 days of age, from a commercial crossbred wen dist
ributed according to a completely randomized design in four treatments
(A, B, C and D) with crude fiber levels of 3.34, 4.67, 6.65 and 7.74,
respectively, using Saccharina to supply a fiber increase source. Wit
h the aim of demonstrating the presence of anaerobic cellulolytic fung
i, the animals were slaughtered at 56 days of age and the inoculation
of the cecal content was carried out in a modified medium for cellulol
ytic bacteria. Isolation of fungi was attained and the number stem for
ming units mililiters proved to increase in a linear way with the fibe
r level of the diet according to the equation y = 0.28x 9.67(R = 0.72;
P<0.001). It is concluded that there an anaerobic cellulolytic fungi
that can take part in the normal caecum nora of broiler.
