Abstract
The liver is a meeting place for thymus-dependent circulating T cells and thymus-independent cells with natural-killer (NK)-cell markers. He re, Nick Crispe and Waj Mehal argue that interactions between these tw o T-cell pools might account for the distinctive immunological role of the liver as a focus of peripheral tolerance induction.
