Abstract
Sulfur K- and titanium L(2,3)-edge absorption spectra of transition-me tal disulfide, TiS2, were measured using x-ray-absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and electron-energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS), respectively. All features in the experimental spectra are very well reproduced by full multiple-scattering-theory calculations. Combined analysis of theoret ical and experimental XAS and EELS spectra, and linear muffin-tin orbi tal band-structure calculations, tend to demonstrate that TIS2 is a se mimetal.
