The synthesis and crystal structure of the new oxide Rb3CrTe3O12 are r
eported. This compound can be considered as derived from a cubic pyroc
hlore (A(2)B(2)O(7)) of formula Rb3/2Cr1/2Te3/2O6 in which both A-site
s (Rb) and anionic ones are partially occupied (A(1.5)B(2)O(6)). This
kind of structure enables the mobility of Rb+ cations through well def
ined 3D-tunnels. Electrical conductivity measurements agree with this
assumption and the experimental data are interpreted on these bases.
