Three methods are used for iodination of radiopharmaceuticals in a hos
pital. The Chloramine-T method, which is the oldest, is cheap and conv
enient; it has been used for twenty years. Solid-phase methods were de
veloped for radioiodination of small peptides and proteins. The most p
opular solid-phase method is the Iodogen-TM method. Several bioactive
proteins were iodinated by this method. Lactoperoxidase method was use
d for enzymatic iodination in the solid and liquid phases. Solid-phase
lactoperoxidase method was developed for those peptides and proteins
that are labile at pH 7 and higher.
