Abstract
Brain glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activity was compared between stre ptozotocin induced diabetic rats and insulin treated diabetic rats usi ng crude and purified preparations from rat brain. V-max of GDH increa sed significantly (p<0.05) while K-m remained same in diabetic state w hen compared to control. Insulin treatment restrored V-max to normal v alues. The observed changes in the present study indicate disturbance in the metabolic pathway of glutamate which may bear importance in vie w of the physiological and cognitive disorders associated with diabete s.
