S. Bertone et al., VIBRIO CARCHARIAE ASSOCIATED WITH A CHRONIC SKIN ULCER ON A SHARK, CARCHARHINUS-PLUMBEUS (NARDO), Journal of fish diseases, 19(6), 1996, pp. 429-434
Bacteria were cultured from a chronic skin ulceration on a shark, Carc
harhinus plumbeus (Nardo), kept in the Genoa Aquarium, Italy. Sixteen
out of 18 isolated strains belonged to Vibrio spp. Identification thro
ugh fatty acid composition analysis and biochemical tests showed that
V. carchariae, the most recently described Vibrio species, were the pr
edominant bacteria isolated from the ulcer.
