The most important characteristics of a non-local and non-linear oscil
lator in resonance or in quasi-resonance with a periodic excitation ar
e extensively examined by means of a new asymptotic perturbation metho
d. The resultant motion is periodic or quasi-periodic, because in cert
ain cases a motion given by the interference of even three different f
requencies is observed. Comparison with the results deriving from the
numerical integration confirms the validity of the asymptotic perturba
tion method employed in the calculation of the solution.
