Abstract
The energy at which the collective transverse flow in the reaction pla ne disappears, the balance energy E(bal), is found to increase linearl y as a function of impact parameter for Ar-40 + Sc-45 reactions. Compa rison of our measured values of E(bal)(b) with predictions from quantu m molecular dynamics (QMD) model calculations agrees better with an ap proach incorporating momentum dependence in the nuclear mean field.
