POLY(METHYL METHACRYLATE) SUPPORTED CR(VI) REAGENTS - PREPARATION ANDAPPLICATIONS

Divinyl benzene (DVB), ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate (EGDMA) and NN'-me thylene bis-acrylamide (NN'-MBA) cross-linked poly(methyl methacrylate )(PMMA)-supported pyrazolinium chromate, chlorochromate and pyrazole-C rO3 complex resins, were prepared and used as oxidising reagents for a lcohols. These resins selectively oxidise primary alcohols to aldehyde s and secondary alcohols to ketones. They possess the desired characte ristics of polymeric reagents, including operational simplicity, filte rability and regenerability. NN'-MBA cross-linked poly(methyl methacry late)-supported pyrazolinium Cr(VI) reagents are more efficient in ter ms of functional group capacity, reaction time and product yield.
