Abstract
Experimental solubilities are reported for anthracene dissolved in eig ht binary mixtures containing (methyl I-butyl ether + I-propanol, or 2 -propanol, or I-butanol, or 2-butanol, or 2-methyl-1-propanol, or I-pe ntanol, or 3-methyl-1-butanol, or l-octanol) at T = 298.15 K. Results of these measurements are used to test two mathematical representation s based upon the combined Nearly Ideal Binary Solvent (NIBS) and Redli ch-Kister equation and Modified Wilson model. For the eight systems st udied, both equations were found to provide an accurate mathematical r epresentation of the experimental results, with an overall average abs olute deviation between measured and calculated values being of the or der of 0.5 per cent or less.
