Abstract
This paper reports experimental results for the influence of target ex citation and orbital alignment on the electron-transfer process in ion -Na(3s,3p) collisions. Systematic experimental investigations with a r ange of simple ions reveal a similar behavior of the electron-transfer cross-section parameters as a function velocity. The experimental fin dings are compared with atomic and molecular orbital calculations.
