Abstract
Volume compensation (VC) achieved in (Lu, Md):Yal(3)(BO3)(4)(YAB) crys tal codoped with Lu3+ and Nd3+ ions is described. The lattice paramete rs, spectral properties and laser performances of the VC (Lu, Nd):YAB and single-doped Nd:YAB (NYAB) crystals are measured and compared. The results indicate that the laser performances of NYAB crystal can be g reatly improved by the VC doping.
