Abstract
Recording of a pi/2-shifted photorefractive grating in iron-doped BaTi O3 by orthogonally polarized waves is reported. The unidirectional int ensity transfer from ordinary to extraordinary waves is attributed to the photovoltaic process of charge redistribution. The sign of the ant isymmetric component of the photovoltaic tensor is found, and an estim ate of its absolute Value is given. (C) 1996 Optical Society of Americ a.
