Mer. Mchale et al., SOLUBILITY OF PYRENE IN BINARY ALCOHOL PLUS CYCLOHEXANOL AND ALCOHOL PLUS 1-PENTANOL SOLVENT MIXTURES AT 299.2 K, Journal of chemical and engineering data, 41(6), 1996, pp. 1522-1524
Experimental solubilities are reported for pyrene dissolved in five bi
nary alcohol + cyclohexanol and seven binary alcohol + l-pentanol solv
ent mixtures at 26 degrees C. Alcohol cosolvents include l-propanol, 2
-propanol, l-butanol, 2-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, S-methyl-l-butan
ol, and 2-pentanol. Results of these measurements are used to test two
mathematical representations based upon the combined nearly ideal bin
ary solvent (NIBS)/Redlich-Kister equation and modified Wilson model.
For the 12 systems studied, both equations were found to provide an ac
curate mathematical representation of the experimental data, with an o
verall average absolute deviation between measured and calculated valu
es being on the order of 0.5%.
