Abstract
A practical method for the measurement of stress wave velocities in co ncrete structures is analyzed. Attention is drawn to the fact that cau tion should be used when estimating the material elastic constants fro m such results, since elastic moduli values calculated from wave veloc ities are inappropriate for concrete. Suggestions for the improvement of the experimental technique for wave velocity measurement in concret e are subsequently offered. (C) 1996 Acoustical Society of America.
