Rb. Brown et R. Herring, THE NEED TO EAT - THE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL COMPONENTS OF BOUNDED RATIONALITY, Science communication, 18(2), 1996, pp. 116-130
This article examines the decision making preceding a particular event
-the 50th anniversary dinner-dance held for employees of a British che
mical firm-and the factors influencing the choice of activity and venu
e Through the analysis of influences on the decision process, the arti
cle seeks to demonstrate that although the process fell generally into
Simon's bounded rationality model of satisfying behavior other psycho
logical and philosophical issues were also important and should be con
sidered in other more general decision-making processes. These psychol
ogical and philosophical issues are discussed and a modified model is
put forward.
