Gc. Paesen et Pa. Nuttall, A TICK HOMOLOG OF THE HUMAN KI NUCLEAR AUTOANTIGEN, Biochimica et biophysica acta, N. Gene structure and expression, 1309(1-2), 1996, pp. 9-13
A clone isolated from a tick salivary gland cDNA library encodes a hom
ologue of the human Ki lupus autoantigen, a protein of unknown functio
n that is related to the subunits of the PA28 proteasome activator. Th
e Ki sequences appear to be well conserved between mammals and inverte
brates, with 55% identity between the tick and human primary structure
s. This is the first report of a Ki homologue in invertebrates.
