The thermal entry region heat transfer due to turbulent forced convect
ion, subjected to a sinusoidally varying inlet temperature is solved b
y employing a hybrid numerical-analytical solution technique under lin
ear variation df wall temperature and constant wall temperature as bou
ndary condition and is verified with the experimental results. The ana
lytical solution of the problem is obtained through extending the gene
ralized integral transform technique. An experimental set-up was built
and used in order to validate the employed mathematical modeling. Ana
lytical solutions are compared with the experimental findings. Satisfa
ctory agreement is obtained between theoretically and experimentally d
etermined heat transfer characteristics for different axial positions
along the channel. Heat transfer characteristics of flow have been det
ermined for linear wall temperature and constant wall temperature boun
dary conditions. Results obtained from the analytical-numerical soluti
on technique and experimental studies have been presented in graphical
and tabular forms. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
