Hm. Tarczy et al., CYTOGENETIC INSTABILITY AMONG THE VEGETATIVE PROGENIES OF ASPERGILLUS-REPENS CV PURDUE SOMACLONES, Cereal Research Communications, 24(3), 1996, pp. 267-273
The distribution of mitotic chromosome numbers and changes in the meio
tic chromosome pairing in the vegetative progenies of Agropyron repens
cv. Purdue somaclones were analyzed. Mitotic chromosome variability s
howed an increase at both cell (SC1-3 somaclones) and plant (SC2) leve
l. Nevertheless: from the progenies of the somaclone SC2, a stable hip
oploid clone with a chromosome number of 2n = 38 was selected. The num
bers of aneuploid cells in the root tips of vegetative clones also sho
wed an increase. In the analysis of meiotic chromosome pairing, a shif
t towards the appearance of multivalents (quadrivalents, hexavalents,
octovalents) was observed.
