Abstract
This paper reports our experiment on training a three layer forwards n eural network with backpropagation algorithm (BP) to memorize acoustic emission (AE) behaviors of magnesium ahoy during fatigue test process and perform the mapping from Ae behaviors to fatigue crack propagatio n. This study reveals the potential possibility of using artificial ne ural networks for automated AE testing. Simulation results are very en couraging and conclusively in favor of this attempt.
