Abstract
A newly designed apparatus for the determining the back vertex power o f spectacle lenses is presented which allows the precise measurement o f lenses manufactured in accordance with DIN 58203 or ISO 8980. An obj ective criterion for the image sharpness can be introduced by computer -assisted image processing. This results in measurement uncertainty an d expenditure of time being considerably reduced as compared with exis ting subjective measuring systems.
