Calculation of the binding energy of an axial donor hydrogenic impurit
y in an ideal, infinite, cylindrical quantum wire placed in an intense
, high-frequency laser field is reported. By making use of a nonpertur
bative theory that ''dresses'' both the potential of the impurity and
the confinement potential in the quantum wire, and the variational app
roach a rapid decrease of the binding energy for different values of t
he wire radius with increasing field intensity is predicted.
