Optical scattering was measured in situ on an electrochromic tin oxide
film during coulometric titration in an electrolyte of 1 M LiClO4 in
propylene carbonate. The normalised scattering increased at the critic
al point where electrocrystallisation started, according to optical an
d electrochemical results. A lower potential limit of 1.2 V vs Li was
established for tin oxide in electrochromic applications. Electrocryst
allisation takes place below this limit. Copyright (C) 1996 Published
