The synthesis and characterization of Co2+, Ni2+, CU2+, Pd2+, Cd2+ and
Hg2+ complexes of benzoyl acetone hydrazine-S-benzyldithiocarbazate [
H(2)BATC] are reported. Elemental analysis, magnetic moment and spectr
al [IR, UV-vis H-1-NMR and C-13-NMR] measurements have been used in ch
aracterize the complexes. ?he spectral data show that the ligand behav
es in bidentate or tridentate manner. The stereochemistry or these com
plexes is discussed based upon their spectral and magnetic properties.
The antibacterial activities of the ligand and its metal complexes to
ward various types of bacteria are also reported.
