Abstract
Ethyl trans-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyroglutamate 1 is synthesized in excel lent yield; racemic 1 is enzymatically resolved with alpha-chymotrypsi n-catalyzed hydrolysis affording both the enantiomerically pure enanti omers.
