Thr results of calculations of the transmission of a laser pulse (of l
ength 0.4-1.0 ns) through a hole of diameter 100-500 mu m based on 3 o
ne-dimensional hydrodynamics code are compared with experimental data,
The model is based on plasma implosion inside a cylindrical cavity. T
he hydrodynamic calculations show that the transmission coefficient de
pends strongly on the diameter of the laser beam as well as of the hol
e and also on the pulse length. A weak dependence of the transmission
coefficient on the laser Light intensity is found. The theory agrees w
ell with the results of experiments.
