Abstract
4-Acetonyl-1-benzyl-3-vinylidenepiperidine (8), prepared by cyclizatio n of propargylic silane (7), was used as a model to study the usefulne ss of the allene moiety as a precursor of the two-carbon chain present in the piperidine ring of Strychnos alkaloids.
