Attention is drawn to the effect of the anomalous resistance of the pl
asma of the high-current plasma opening switch (POS). On the basis of
a simple analysis, a conclusion is made about the significance of the
anomalous resistance in the conducting phase of the POS until the fast
switching of the current to the load. It is pointed out that it is ne
cessary to take the anomalous resistance into consideration along with
the known electron-magnetohydrodynamic and erosion mechanisms of the
plasma resistance when the POS operation is analyzed. The presence of
the plasma turbulence in the conducting phase of the POS is confirmed
by the spectroscopic measurements of the Stark broadening of atomic-hy
drogen Lines.
