Abstract
This article addresses the electrical safety of photovoltaic (PV) syst ems. It points out the different physical properties of PV generators in comparison to conventional power sources like the public grid. It i s written with a strong reference to the international standard IEC 36 4, 'Electrical Installations of Buildings' (IEC = International Electr otechnical Commission) and draws very much on recent developments in G ermany.
