Fh. Bellevue et al., STRUCTURAL COMPARISON OF ALKYLPOLYAMINE ANALOGS WITH POTENT IN-VITRO ANTITUMOR OR ANTIPARASITIC ACTIVITY, Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry letters, 6(22), 1996, pp. 2765-2770
A series of symmetrically or unsymmetrically alkyl-substituted polyami
ne analogues were synthesized containing either a 3-3-3 or 3-7-3 polya
mine backbone. These analogues were evaluated in vitro as antitumor ag
ents in the NCI H157 and NCI H82 lung carcinoma cell lines, and as ant
itrypanosomal agents against four strains of Trypanosoma brucei brucei
or Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense. The resulting biological data sugg
est that it is possible to specifically target tumor cells or parasiti
c organisms with alkylpolyamine analogues based on structure. Copyrigh
