G. Kennedy et al., STRUCTURE AND MECHANISM OF FORMATION OF A NEW ADDUCT FROM FORMALDEHYDE AND GUANOSINE, Chemico-biological interactions, 102(2), 1996, pp. 93-100
Reactions between formaldehyde and guanosine in the range pH 4-10 gave
N-2-hydroxymethylguanosine 1, bis-N-2-guanosinylmethane 2 and 7,8-tet
rahydro-sym-triazino[1,2-a]purin-10(3H)-one 3a. The latter is a new ad
duct, the formation of which occurs in neutral solution, is favoured a
t higher pH and can be rationalised by a sequence of condensations inv
olving two molecules each of guanosine and formaldehyde.
