The densities, refractive indices and electric permittivities at 2MHz
of benzene and carbon tetrachloride solutions of vitamin E were measur
ed at 298 K in the concentration range up to 0.70 mol kg(-1) for benze
ne solutions and 0.39 mol kg(-1) for carbon tetrachloride solutions. T
he apparent molal volume of the solute, the molal refraction and molal
polarization of the solutions, as well as the partial molal refractio
n and partial molal polarization of the solute were calculated. In add
ition, the dipole moment of the vitamin E molecule at infinite dilutio
n and the apparent dipole moment were calculated, and the solvent effe
ct on the dipole moment discussed.
