Abstract
Chemiluminescence is being increasingly employed for evaluating oxidat ive stress in biological systems. Using this technique, we examined th e oxidative stress in trout erythrocytes. Hemolysates and erythrocyte ghosts were studied in whole and in density-separated trout erythrocyt es, after exposure to superoxide anion generated by the xanthine/xanth ine oxidase system. The results show varying chemiluminescence respons e in the studied fractions, possibly reflecting different degrees of o xidation. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Inc.
