R. Gabbianelli et al., SUPEROXIDE ANION HANDLING BY TROUT ERYTHROCYTES - A CHEMILUMINESCENCESTUDY, Comparative biochemistry and physiology. Part C, Pharmacology toxicology & endocrinology, 115(1), 1996, pp. 83-87
Chemiluminescence is being increasingly employed for evaluating oxidat
ive stress in biological systems. Using this technique, we examined th
e oxidative stress in trout erythrocytes. Hemolysates and erythrocyte
ghosts were studied in whole and in density-separated trout erythrocyt
es, after exposure to superoxide anion generated by the xanthine/xanth
ine oxidase system. The results show varying chemiluminescence respons
e in the studied fractions, possibly reflecting different degrees of o
xidation. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Inc.
