Abstract
The surface states in a finite superlattice in an electric field using the stair case approximation are studied. The eigenenergy equation is derived by the transfer matrix technique. The dependence of eigenener gy and probability profile on the electric field is discussed. A Stark effect for surface state energies is calculated for an actual finite superlattice structure, and the shifts in the probability density prof iles are also determined.
