Nj. King et Bj. Tonge, BEHAVIORAL-ASSESSMENT AND TREATMENT OF CHRONIC HEADACHES IN CHILDREN, Journal of paediatrics and child health, 32(5), 1996, pp. 359-361
This review explores advances in the behavioural assessment and treatm
ent of childhood headaches. Behavioural assessment procedures are outl
ined including the behavioural interview, self-report questionnaires,
self-monitoring and caregiver observations. We conclude that behaviour
al treatment strategies are effective in the management of childhood h
eadaches, although most of the research support appears to be limited
to relaxation training and biofeedback. Nonetheless, the behavioural a
ssessment and treatment of childhood headaches appears to be a promisi
ng clinical and research direction.
