H. Dilling et al., EPIDEMIOLOGIC STUDIES CONCERNING THE PREV ALENCE OF ALCOHOLISM IN GENERAL-HOSPITAL AND GENERAL-PRACTICE, Nervenheilkunde, 15(8), 1996, pp. 482-486
Based on a very high alcohol consumption in the population of Germany
quotas from 10 to 20% of inpatients in general hospitals may be resume
d by the literature, quotas partially caused by considerable somatic c
omorbidity. In more recent studies from Luebeck, which are the most re
presentative and valid at present available in Germany, 15.3% of medic
al or surgical inpatients and 12.5% among general practice patients pr
oved to be alcohol dependent.
