T. Wigal et al., STANDARDIZED VIDEOTAPED PROCEDURE FOR EVALUATING WITHDRAWAL-EMERGENT TARDIVE-DYSKINESIA IN A PUBLIC RESIDENTIAL FACILITY, Journal of developmental and physical disabilities, 8(4), 1996, pp. 375-389
Two videotaping procedures (one-camera and two-camera) for assessing t
ardive dyskinesia (TD) and stereotypies were contrasted. Videotapes we
re subsequently rated utilizing the Dyskinesia Identification System-C
ondensed User Scale, which was developed in the context of a neurolept
ic drug withdrawal regimen to assess abnormal involuntary movements in
a developmentally disabled population. Results suggest that both vide
otaping procedures are able to detect TD-like movements, but that more
movements are detected with the two-camera procedure (full-view and c
lose-up) than with the one-camera (full-view only) procedure. These pr
ocedures are applicable to clinical settings for TD monitoring.
