Abstract
We present a computationally efficient method to stimulate lossy trans mission lines using iterative linear least square fitting (ILLSF) mode l synthesis and piecewise recursive convolution (PRC). Based on the ge neralized method of characteristics, transmission lines are modeled wi th characteristic impedances and waveform generators. Thus the first m ajor task involves network synthesis. The second is efficient computat ion of the synthesized waveform generators which requires computationa lly expensive convolution integral evaluation during transient simulat ion of transmission lines. The superior performance of ILLSF and the e fficiency of PRC will be demonstrated for the transient simulation of coupled lossy transmission lines.
