Abstract
The analysis of synaptonemal complex formation (SC) by light and elect ron microscopy was performed in two male specimens of Trichomys apereo ides from Bahia, Brazil. The specimens present 2n = 26 and the karyoty pe differs from 2n = 30 described in this species. A detailed approach permitted, for the first time in this genus, the characterization and timing of sexual and autosomal pairing, as well as of the positioning and the structure of nucleolus through the zygonema and pachynema.
