A. Vanderwoerdt et al., ULCERATIVE KERATITIS SECONDARY TO SINGLE-LAYER REPAIR OF A TRAUMATIC EYELID LACERATION IN A HORSE, Equine practice, 18(10), 1996, pp. 33
This report concerns a horse with ulcerative keratitis secondary to an
inadequately apposed eyelid margin following traumatic full-thickness
eyelid laceration. Based on the absence of a conjunctival foreign bod
y or redundant corneal epithelial edges, the most likely cause of the
ulcer was mechanical trauma from the discontinuous eyelid margin and c
onjunctival granulation tissue. Surgical debridement and re-alignment
of the eyelid margin was recommended.
