Abstract
This paper examines some effects of drop size distribution and shape o n the rainfall-rate estimates obtained from the specific differential phase. An algorithm that uses exclusively the specific differential ph ase is presented, and performance of this algorithm is examined by app lying it to 15 storm events in Oklahoma that include heavy and light r ainfalls. Radar-derived cumulative rainfall is compared to total rain measured by gauges in a dense gauge network in Oklahoma for each of th e events.
