Abstract
Thin films of cobalt phthalocyanine are prepared by thermal evaporatio n onto glass substrate at room temperature. The X-ray diffractograms o f the films are taken and peaks are identified. From the analysis it i s seen that the film is in the alpha form at room temperature. The pre ferential orientation is obtained in (001) direction and the structure is adjudged to be tetragonal. Microcrystalline grain size studies are done on samples annealed at different temperatures. It is observed th at the grain size steadily increases and then decreases upto 300 degre es C.
