Er-doped silica glasses have been prepared using TEOS-fumed silica (co
lloidopolymeric) gels densified at 1200 degrees C. Addition of Al2O3 a
s co-dapant improved the fluorescence intensity. Effect of co-dopant o
n the fluorescence absorption spectra have been studied. It is conclud
ed that addition of Al2O3 increases the fluorescent intensity and also
increases the refractive index of the silica linearly with the co-dop
ant concentration.
