We have realized quasi-phase-matched second-harmonic generation by usi
ng a planar waveguide consisting of periodical ridge-shaped crystals o
f 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA). The largest nonlinear optical coeffic
ient d(11) of MNA was used. The quasi-phase matching was attained by a
ngle tuning to coherence lengths corresponding to conversions from fun
damental TE(0) and TE(2) modes into second-harmonic TE(10) and TE(12)
modes, respectively.
